ARMA works in partnership with its member organisations to improve
standards of care for people with arthritis and other musculoskeletal
conditions. Recent activities and initiatives include:
- Campaigning to improve services - pressing for higher priority
for arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions with policy
makers and service planners.
- Setting and campaigning for the implementation of the standards
of care for arthritis and musculoskeletal services.
- Raising awareness - through publications, events and the media.
- Influencing policy - responding to government and health service
consultations on behalf of the arthritis and musculoskeletal
community.
- Campaigning for the implementation of National Institute for
Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidance.
- Networking - providing opportunities for groups to work together
and exchange information and ideas through seminars, conferences,
debates and joint projects.
ARMA is also active in EUROPE ARMA is a member of the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR).
ARMA delegates attend EULAR's Annual Congresses and conferences.
Through ARMA, UK service users and providers can play a central
role in the development of policy and practice for musculoskeletal
services, across Europe. Bone & Joint Decade 2000-2010 ARMA
is also the UK National Action Network for the Bone & Joint
Decade - an international multi-disciplinary initiative to improve
the health related quality of life for people with musculoskeletal
conditions.
